Fixed-Price Projects

I agree fixed prices for clearly scoped software development, electronic circuit and PCB designs and embedded firmware. The Statement of Work can include investigation, changes and deployment on existing or live systems, with appropriate testing and precautions. For now, I provide software, circuit and PCB design files, embedded firmware and documentation. I do not currently supply physical boards, kits or assembled devices.

How is the scope agreed?

I discuss your requirements and agree the scope, deliverables and price individually. If you need advice first, Technical Advice can help clarify the options. A paid consultation is optional, rather than a prerequisite for a quotation.

What is a Statement of Work (SOW)?

I send the applicable terms and SOW before you commit. The SOW identifies the Engagement, objectives, deliverables, intended use, review criteria, timetable and fixed fee. Both you and I sign it; the terms and signed SOW form the agreement and record the bespoke IP transfer arrangements.

How does payment work?

I agree a proportionate deposit and payment schedule in the Statement of Work. A 50/50 split is the usual proposal; consumer advances are explained and adjusted where a lower deposit or staged payments better reflect the work. The deposit is an advance against the fee and is not automatically forfeited; any refunds are subject to the cancellation and refund rules in the terms.

How do review and acceptance work?

I provide usable access to a testable version before final payment. You normally have ten business days to review it, with a fresh period after correction. Consumer acceptance requires your express confirmation; silence or expiry is not acceptance. The business-only payment milestone has reminder and reasonable-extension safeguards. A reported material-defect dispute keeps the related acceptance and final payment pending. Acceptance never removes preserved legal remedies.

What if your requirements change?

I quote for work outside the agreed scope and explain the effect on deliverables, price and timetable. A change starts only after your written approval. Correcting my failure to meet the agreed scope is included.

Is there a warranty?

I give an additional 30-day warranty from final acceptance for faults within the agreed scope. It excludes faults caused solely by misuse, unauthorised changes or later environmental changes for which I am not responsible. This supplements your legal rights and is not a deadline for all claims.
