Software Blueprint & Build Planning

Turn your software idea into a clear, practical build plan before committing to full development.

Many software projects become expensive because the first step is jumping straight into coding. Before development begins, it is worth taking time to understand what needs to be built, who it is for, what systems it needs to connect to, and what a sensible first version should include.

The Software Blueprint & Build Planning package helps turn an early idea into a structured, practical brief that can be used to make better decisions about scope, budget, and next steps.

This package is suitable for businesses considering a custom internal tool, workflow system, web application, dashboard, database-backed system, or API integration.

What this package helps with

Protoworks will work with you to clarify the idea, identify the main users and workflows, and outline a practical technical direction for the project.

The aim is not to design every final detail upfront. Instead, the goal is to create a useful working blueprint that defines the likely shape of the system, the main risks, and a sensible first phase of development.

What is included

  • Requirements Workshop

A workshop to understand the problem, users, and business goals.

  • Feature Review

Review of the main features needed for an initial working version.

  • Workflow & Screen Mapping

Identification of key workflows, screens, data, and likely integrations.

  • Technical Approach

Suggested technical approach based on the likely scale and complexity of the project.

  • Phased Build Plan

A phased build plan showing what should be tackled first.

  • Indicative Estimate

An indicative estimate range for the next stage of development.

What you receive

You will receive a Software Blueprint document covering:

  • Project goals and assumptions
  • Key user roles and workflows
  • Outline screen and interface notes
  • Core data requirements
  • Likely integrations or external systems
  • Recommended technical approach
  • Suggested MVP scope
  • Phased development roadmap
  • Indicative estimate range for implementation

The document is yours to keep and can be used internally, shared with stakeholders, or used as the basis for a future build.

Typical scope

This fixed-price package is intended for one software idea or internal system, covering:

  • Up to three main user roles
  • Up to five core workflows
  • Up to three likely integrations

Larger projects, complex existing systems, or projects requiring detailed analysis of an existing codebase may need a separate assessment before a reliable implementation plan can be prepared.
